Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge – Landscape (2)

Ryvoan Bothy, Ryvoan Pass, Cairngorms, Scotland

The Cairngorm Mountains are some of the highest and wildest mountains in Scotland and I suspect that at this time of the year still covered in snow.  These mountain passes that crisscross the mountains have for centuries offered relatively safe passage for travellers and cattle drovers.

Today it is the playground of mountaineers and this little Bothy at the top of Ryvoan Pass is able to offer basic (very) but very welcome accommodation in inclement weathers or for those on longer treks into the wilds.

Just thought I would add one more to this weeks Photo Challenge.  You can see what others have submitted on :-

  1. So that’s where the Bothy Band got its name! Looks like a great place to plan for an overnight, provided that good weather is guaranteed. I’m curious about that light window, since I can’t see anything that looks like it might be reflected with that effect. Maybe it’s a full-depth high-definition video screen? In which case, do they take advanced bookigs?

    • I did say a Bothy is very basic…..so nothing spectacular for you entertainment apart from the scenery and wildlife. The light roof panel I think was a new one and waiting its black waterproof painting (if you were refereeing to the blue panel on the side, again sorry to disappoint you it is just a simple name sign). There is a network of Bothies across the Highlands free to use and maintained by volunteers.

      • Without dreams I believe you loose your human feelings. Dreams are necessary for our existance as mammals. Isn’t it fun to see one of your dogs dreaming? They could be having a wonderful time in their dreams. As can we. I can walk the mountains in my dreams! 🙂
