Too Soon…..

Tishoo Tishoo…. All Fall Down

It is far too soon for Conkers, the fruit of the Horse Chestnut Tree, to be falling.  Just another of this years strange happenings.  The Chestnut Trees look full of fruit this year, all the makings of a great harvest…..but the past two days they have just been dropping.  It would seem that many are dry and brittle.  The one thing they have in common is that they are all way too small.  Of the two conkers above the largest is 3cm and the smaller just about 2cm.    Maybe the mini heatwave that has kept coming and going over the past few weeks has caused the fruit to go into shock.  We have high winds forecast so I guess that will bring quite a few more down.

Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge – Mirror

Mirror, Mirror on the Water….which is the fairest of  them all

Late evening in the Upper Derwent Valley, Derbyshire.  A near cloudless sky and the waters of Howden Reservoir were flat calm, hardly a ripple reflecting the  twin towers of Howden Dam and woodland along the shores.

Mirror reflections….Twice as Nice

Just an idea for this week’s DP Photo Challenge on the topic of Mirrors
