Green all over…….

Ferns

A Fern Bridge

It has been a great year for the Ferns, wet at times, warm at others….and if there is somewhere for a Fern to get a root it will have  made the most of the opportunity.

It is also the last day of August so I guess it will not be long before the rich green fronds will start to turn as autumn approaches.  Meteorologists reckon that in their time table autumn starts tomorrow…  but the Autumnal Equinox isn’t till 22nd September.

Still plenty of time to enjoy late summer.

      1. Let’s hope so, or it will some day come crashing down when somebody tries to cross. Roots grow and creates space for water which in turn will freeze in the winters . . .
        NOTHING lasts forever!

        1. Well… been to England quite a few times. Over 50 by now. Seen many houses with ivy and also the vines that turn to a magnificent bright red, dark red, yellow in Aurtumn and according to the owners that’s been there all their life. And these people are in their 80ties. Here is an article about ivy: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1278430/Why-ivy-creeping-walls-home-actually-protect-building-thanks-thermal-shield.html
So maybe these ferns workd the same way?
