A Sweet Chestnut Tree, Derbyshire
(we have known this tree for well over 30 years and it has always been as this jaunty angle -despite many gales)
You might think that autumn has arrived….. well it has in some ways. The seasonal change to autumnal gold and browns was very late starting this year. I suppose we shouldn’t be that surprised, for the past few years autumn has been slipping further into October and overlapping into November. There was a time when I would confidently book trips to autumn ‘hot spots’ but that is no longer possible, one has to play the ‘wait and see’ game.
So here we are the last day of October. Certainly there is more golden colours showing across the woods but the prevalent colour is still green, all be it a much lighter bright green than earlier in the month. So lets take a stroll together…

On a sunny day like this it just makes our woodland walk all the more beautiful…something to remember over the coming winter months.
