Cees Hunt for Joy Challenge – Sitting in the Sun

Sitting in the Sun is the topic for Cees Photo Challenge this week. Sitting here on a damp and cloudy this last day of January, to sit out in the sun really would be a joy.

But of course it is not just us humans who loved to sit in the sun….

Is this Winter ?…….

Darley Abbey, Derby, Derbyshire

Is this Winter? ….Well its the 30th January so I guess it is. But it has been a strange winter so far.  It does seem to have rained since October, the wettest autumn and winter (so far) on record. We have had some sunny spells but again these seem mainly to have been limited to mornings…by lunch time or at the best early afternoon, and its raining again.

Best not to complain, after all there is nothing we can do to change the weather. On the plus side when the sun does grace us with its presence the days are rather good. In fact those days, just like yesterday are perhaps more autumnal in feel and  the low penetrating light…a light that is rather warm.

Yes… apart from the Snowdrops that are stating to flower, you could well be mistaken in thinking this is autumn…

Moody Weather…. sudden swings

Comb Beck falling from Comb Crags above Buttermere, Cumbria

Not a recent image, but one I thought reflected the mood swings of this bad weather period, which we seem to have been passing thru for many months now.  Every so often the insistent rain pauses and small breaks appear,  the sun we thought we had lost for good, peaks through a thinner layer of cloud.

If the current rains persist in staying with us I think I will soon have webbed feet  🙂

Lens Artist Challenge #81 – Seeing Red

The Smallest House, CONWAY

Honestly…this is the Smallest House in Great Britain.  Located on the Harbour Quayside in Conway, North Wales.

Just to make sure you cannot miss it…it is painted Red with a Guide also dressed in Red in a style similar to the traditional Welsh Costume .

Hope this fits the bill for this weeks Challenge… Seeing Red.
