Bare trees at the start of the month…and now lush green vegetation everywhere. The Bluebells are falling back, definitely on their last legs and now getting swamped in the undergrowth.
Good news is that our first Buttercups are staring to flower in the meadow. Soon there will a yellow carpet of nectar providing plants for the insects and bees.
It is also ‘Tick-Tock’ time as the Dandelions sacrifice their yellow flowers for the delicate seed heads, heads just waiting a gust of wind to disperse those seeds far and wide….
So as we wait for those May Flowers that the famous rhyme promises…lets take a last look at this years Bluebells….
It has been a good year for Bluebells…. my only disappointment is that I haven’t this year been able to visit the woods where we have large swathes of Blue.
Maybe next year…. till then
