Another Scorcher…….

It is hot again….. June 1st is supposed to be busting out all over.  But at 11am in Darley Park everything seems rather quiet.  A big change to yesterday when crowds swamped this space.  I am both sad and fearful that  far too many folk have decided that lockdown is over and the restrictions that are still in place no longer apply to them.

For these two mums and their little tots they have pretty much the place to themselves…

I did say it is another scorcher, not as hot as yesterday, only 25c!  But we are now being warned of a drought…who would have thought that possible back in March when we did wonder if it would ever stop raining.  The grass is now showing the signs of the heat, but the trees, possible because they have deep roots are just so full of leaf…all still bright green.

But it is now time to say goodbye to the Honeysuckle flowers.  They have been brilliant this year, but the heat has taken its toll.

Midday, I think I will do what these Cricket Sight Screens are doing, head for the shade…

So we start a new month.  Weather wise it continues from where May left off.  Cannot last…can it?  I keep on looking at the advance forecast so as not to get taken by surprise, so far only some occasional showers predicted.

But if you venture outdoors …..  enjoy but….

June…… The start of summer proper

A summer view over Derwent Water in the English Lake District, Cumbria.

(June 1st and it the first day of the meteorological summer)

This view is taken from Lodore Woods by Ashness Bridge.  Skiddaw mountain is to your right with the town of Keswick below.

Not always a peaceful spot,  as it is a great place to take in the view.   However, right now The Lake District National Park are still telling folk not to visit.  There will be many locals who are loving the peace of the surroundings to their homes…..  but of course many more who rely upon the Tourist Industry for their income.  It is going to be tough for them.  Nor can I see any real easing of the situation for some time to come..

No matter where you are….
