The Sun Returns… but warnings of Thunder and of course more rain!

After days of rain, the sun came out.  It was hot and very humid with thunder being promised.  It was great to take the opportunity to get out and walk with out the waterproofs.

I thought we would head for the wildflower meadows.  They had been doing well and I did wonder if the rains would have caused any damage.  The Daisies are thriving as are the Buttercups….  but now it is the foliage of the next generation of herbs that are starting to swamp them.   Rather nice to potter through the meadows, feeling both the reflected heat and the rising moisture from the ground.

I mentioned yesterday that the  wild Foxglove season had started. I also commented that they did seem rather stunted this season….I think thus was confirmed again today with many spikes being rather compact and not appearing as if they will fully extend…

The rain has made a small difference to Burleigh Brook,   After running at a trickle and threatening to dry up, the rains have given it some refreshing new life.

It might only be a tiddler of a stream but soon it will join the mighty Derwent.

Nice to welcome the sun back…lets hope we get some more before too long

  1. I don’t know about the UK, but we are supposed to get two blistering hot days (Sunday and Monday) with sun and shadow temperatures of 27 – 29 C. With another 10 on the top in the sunshine I’ll plan for a retreat!
