A Wet Note……

June ended on a rather damp note and July has started in the same frame of mind.  But we did get a small window of dry weather.  Not to miss the opportunity for a ‘dry’ walk, the Lakeside was the destination point.  Might be grey and damp but the sun did try ….. just a little sparkle here and there!

Nice to see that the Willowherb is now beginning to flower, so if we do get some real sunshine, they will add colour to the shady areas and hedgerows for a few weeks.

But someone’s mummy is going to be rather annoyed when they get home….some toddler has left their jelly sandals, all alone,  on the edge of the boardwalk.

But the break in the weather was short-lived and normal wet service was resumed.

Summer…by the tranquil Avon

The-Avon,-TEWKESBURY-03

The River Mill Avon, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire

It was one of those incredibly hot summers days, when if we were being sensible, we would be looking for the shade.  The tranquil waters  of the Mill Avon* did bring that touch of freshness to the afternoon.  Whilst perhaps it is too hot to have been out and about, the benefit is that you do tend to have these places pretty much to yourselves.

* Mill Avon is the name of this ‘river’.  Just up stream ,the River Avon joins the River Severn. Just before that junction the River Avon has this cut, through which it passes, created to power Water Powered Mills.  Having completed its task, it then moves on to join the River Severn.
