Just up-stream from here the River Derwent is showing that once again it is on the rise..
Not really a surprise after all this lovely summer rain we have been ‘enjoying‘. Well you have to enjoy it, there is little we can do to change the current weather flow off the Atlantic.
I do feel sorry for the plants. They survive underground all winter. Struggle to break our of captivity in the spring, absorb all the goodness they can suck from the ground…then burst into July flower – and get absolutely drenched.
Of course the wild flowers always seem to survive the worst that nature can throw at them. Willowherb standing tall and plentiful along the river bank.
A very welcome splash of colour on an otherwise damp, drab day…..yep, it is July – honest.!
