A Bright Start…but not long before a change

DOI_5195_00031qqq

A bright sunny start but the clouds tell us a change is on the way.

Even so looking up through the branches of this Ash Tree you would think that it was Spring, green, and bright with a blue sky above.

DOI_5166_00002qqq Most trees start to drop leaves gradually as the days get shorter and the nights colder…the Ash is different and will suddenly decide that enough is enough and drop the lot in one go.

Autumn is on the way; the smell of the air and temperature drop is delivering hints that the big change will be with us soon.  Meantime we can enjoy some late summer scenes.  The Oak is still in full leaf and the woods still have that summer glow.

The autumnal give away are the ferns and bracken, golden brown in the early sunshine…

It may well be colder, the sun lower in the sky and each day noticeably shorter than the last…but for late September it isn’t bad

In these strange times in which we all live  this has to be a big bonus…

  1. I’d say that your (autumn) colour is already nicely underway, especially in the (bracken?) ferns in your seventh and (especially) eighth offerings. OTOH, the dozen trees in our modest garden orchard are fairly bursting into blossom, so I’d say most things (and, just possibly all things) are proceeding according to plan.

    1. One thing for sure nature doesn’t appear to be stricken with CV19. Perhaps the only normality in these difficult times. Enjoy your spring. This year has just vanished, at times spring only seems like yesterday, yet at others much more than a lifetime in the past. Time has always been a fickle thing for our memories but this year restrictions, easing, then more restrictions, has manipulated our time clocks in a strange way. We will enjoy our autumn, not sure about the winter and look forward to taking our turn with spring…. 🙂
