If I said it had been raining heavily today, I might well be accused of under stating the weather situation. So heavy the I agreed with Buster that walkies could wait. By 3.30pm, and as Buster doesn’t like going out in the dark, we thought we best make the most of a bad day and head out for a good leg stretch.
The rain has eased, but then as we reached the riverside walk, the evening sun broke through the thick clouds. It was only a brief appearance …but what a difference it made… autumn was back.
A word of warning. The River Derwent was running high and wide and at a pace. Someway to go before it reaches the top of its banks. But it was this time last year, a succession of floods started that last to the spring. But in the last of the sunshine the river had a tranquil look that belied the force of its waters….
I guess we were lucky… a great finish to the day and we also got home dry.
