Not always grey and doure…..

A December Morning, Allestree, Derbyshire

Not the most obvious of subjects…..  after days of grey skies, near constant rain, I was rather taken by surprise by a sudden break in the clouds and a burst of sunshine.  Even the Churchyard lightened its usual doure mood.

The sunshine was short lived…. just long enough to brighten up some other interesting corners of our village.

A Beech in Padley Gorge, Derbyshire

This old Beech Tree must have self seeded, possibly 200 years ago.  It had obviously found a safe crevice between the Gritstone boulders and thrived in its early years.  Now all these years later those same rocks, over which the roots have been creeping, seem to add additional stability and security.

Like all of us in these trouble times….. it is clinging on to hope, so…….
