Dawn and a Venerable Oak here in Derby
The sun made a surprise visit this morning…. in fact it was rather generous, remained with us all morning. As the morning progressed, the temperature that started at 3c rose to a dissy 10c.
The morning mist never really vanished, just lingered on the horizon waiting the first opportunity to return.
The leaves may now be falling as winter approaches, but the Oak is still one of the best trees for supporting wildlife….. birds and insects have a secure roost within its head of branches.
A copse of Silver Birch catching the first of the light, the feather like tips of the branches showing their winter red tint.
It is very clear that winter has arrived in the Beech Woods, bare tall skeletons just waiting for the return of spring….
By lunch time the sun had vanished behind an ever increasingly thick cloud cover, that mist started to roll back in, soon the rains returned.
Best be grateful for a ‘Bonus Morning’ ….. that said it would be nice to enjoy a spell of bright winter days 🙂
What ever the winter weather….
Please Remember ….
Stay Safe …. Be Kind…. Look After Each Other
