The first day of February has been a great deal better than the February predictions. In fact the morning sunshine seemed to bring our local Bird population to life. It is the first day this year that the woods, lake and fields….as well as our garden…. when Bird song has filled the air. Like me and Buster they were full of the “Joys of Spring”
What a difference in temperature compared to the weekend. With no wind and a sun that was actually warming, it all felt like a very different world.
So just in case we missed the pleasures of this ‘Spring’ morning we headed off through the village, where even the Graveyard was not displaying its normal somber mood, and then into the Woods and Park.
One little puzzle remains. We had an autumn where the Oak Trees enjoyed one of those feast years, providing a mass drop of Acorns. Squirrels and Jays have been much in evidence, yet there are still masses of their favourite food, food they usually stash away, scattered below many of our Oak trees….. all crunchy underfoot.
You may remember yesterday the Lake was frozen. Today it is ice free and near mirror smooth…
All too soon we had to head for home, tempting as the weather was, but our allotted time span under lockdown was over for today.
What a difference a day can make……. but before we get too carried away into thinking Spring is here, our weather forecasters have other ideas. Heavy rain tonight, some snow on high ground, and beware tomorrow will start with freezing rains and ice on the roads, before just turning wet again. At least we made the most of today
Whatever the weather…..
Please Remember ….
Stay Safe …. Be Kind…. Look After Each Other
1st February
