October is coming to its conclusion and the Rufus Oak has eventually turned……  the rest will surely follow.

So as October vanishes Autumn arrives at last.

Enjoy Autumn and lets hope November will be kind to all….But as always…

Time to go Backwards …….

Arctic-Circle

The last few hours of ‘British Summer Time’.  Tonight we adjust our clocks back by one hour.

Whilst we will immediately enjoy, a one time, extra hour in bed this Sunday Morning, the downside is that as Greenwich Meantime arrives the darker nights do begin much earlier…. each day they get darker, till we once again start the climb out of Winter to Spring – after the Winter Solstice on the 21st December.

Not sure if it is just me…..  but I find the decent into darkness is quick and that climb out to the lighter days of Spring very very slow.

Those of you in the Southern Hemisphere can look forward to the start of your summer days!

North or South, East or West….

Breakfast Time…. On the Wyre

Morning-Feast

The Wrye Estuary, Skippool, Lancashire

The tide is turning on the Wyre Estuary…….  it will soon be the end of breakfast time, as the sand and mud flats are covered  and the feast for those early risers  will vanish for at least 6 hours.

Whatever the time of day for you…….

It is a bit more like Autumn…… just a bit

_DOI9764qqq

It was not a promising start…. then as if someone had waved a magic wand, the sun broke through. Certainly throughout the day some dark clouds rolled by making our world just a little dark, then blink it was sunny again.

At last the Beech trees have started to turn, staring with the younger ones.

Fly Agaric are having a bumper season and the berries on the Holly tell us that Christmas is on its way…

Not a bad morning for a walk…. and once again reminding us that we are so lucky to have Allestree Park and several other public parks, all so close

I hope the mention of Christmas didn’t scare you….
