It is a bit more like Autumn…… just a bit

It was not a promising start…. then as if someone had waved a magic wand, the sun broke through. Certainly throughout the day some dark clouds rolled by making our world just a little dark, then blink it was sunny again.

At last the Beech trees have started to turn, staring with the younger ones.

Fly Agaric are having a bumper season and the berries on the Holly tell us that Christmas is on its way…

Not a bad morning for a walk…. and once again reminding us that we are so lucky to have Allestree Park and several other public parks, all so close

I hope the mention of Christmas didn’t scare you….

Things that go bump in the night ……

Witches

Not sure I am looking forward to this weekend……  Halloween time again.

Whilst I was never a fan of this so called ‘Celebration’  we call Halloween, I did recognise that some folk did get some fun and enjoyment……  even the Trick or Treating that has grown legs , was fun for the younger ones.

Sadly like so many events in our ‘social lives’ the Retail opportunities took over and turned Halloween into yet another retail based industry.

No, I never thought Halloween was something worth celebrating …. and with this years heightened hype, I certainly ain’t look forward to the weekend.

Halloween .. the end of the month, so as always….

Slow seasonal progress….

Derbyshire-Goyt-Valley

The Goyt Valley, Derbyshire

( The Goyt Valley is on the border of Derbyshire and Cheshire… Cheshire is on the horizon)

The Heather has faded and died back, the bracken is just turning, the trees are still green and the grass remains lush…. possibly having been revived with recent sun and rain, whilst also enjoying above average temperatures.

For the end of October, it all looks a long way from the autumnal colours ,that whilst belated this year, must come soon.

Seasonal change and another month approaching….. time does fly….
