Saturday, sunshine and a warm breeze. Bluebells where a key feature in the mornings walk, they just added that special spring touch. The location was South Derbyshire and Calke woods. Rather fine well-established Oak Trees, with Beech and Chestnut, even some Pine for added variety. Wildflowers and Herbs starting to make their mark on spring, and Bird Song everywhere. A morning full of promise…that actually fulfilled its promise..
Nor would we dream of leaving Calke Woods without paying our respects to the ancient “Old Man of Calke”… this grand old Oak, well over a 1000 years has survived another winter, ready and able to join in the Spring renaissance.
Not a bad start to the weekend…. but fun over its back to the gardening 🙂
Relaxing, out and about, or gardening, as always……

Not only the Bluebells but also the tree in the last shot make it look like a fairy tail.

The Old Man may be an old tree, sadly many walk right past it without noticing…… but those who do have often said that they find this space magical. 🙂

Not bad at all! I am away from home and missing our bluebells. You’ve captured their colour, which is very difficult. Wonderful to see the ancient oak too.
