January

For many of us January see a flurry of image requests from Publishers and the Tourist Industry. Whilst the task keeps us trapped to desk and computer it does give us yet another chance to review the previous years seasons and in the process recall special moments where light, weather and location all came together.

Tarn-Hows

A November morning at Tarn Hows, Cumbria was one such occasion.   Very cold but fresh with the early morning sun doing its best to breath warmth into the day.  The tarns whilst not smooth as a mirror were calm and allowed ripples to shape the reflections, the greens seemed more like spring than autumn whilst the larch had started their turn to gold.   Coniston Old Man and Wetherlam stand proud on the horizon all quiet and peaceful and surprisingly for this ‘honey spot’ only a handful of tourists.

I wasn’t there the following day but the weather changed and the Big Freeze of 2010 began.  But as I say it is nice to recall such days and anticipate the opportunities of the year ahead.
