A GREAT SECRET LOCATION……STEEPHILL COVE

One of the best kept secrets of the Isle of Wight is Steephill Cove.  You find it by taking a cliff walk to the west from Ventnor, in fact which ever direction you approach the cove it will have to be on foot.  As you approach you see what look s like a modern beach side development and yes there are a few select residences enjoying this superb bay.

But intermingled with the new are some fantastic Beach side Restaurant’s and Cafe’s, and I do mean beach side, there feet well set into the shingle and sand.

Seafood from the bay is the main fair on offer and for us THE place to head for is one of the outside tables (and there only outside tables) at the CRAB SHED.  Run by the Wheeler family of fishing folk Crab, Lobster and Prawn are the offerings in various freshly prepared forms, back up with an surprisingly varied Wine list and great service, one could ask for no more.  Mind you our favourite is not the most exotic dish on offer but a very humble Hot Crab Pasty with salad, crisp outside and mouth-wateringly tasty inside…….yum
