IT RAINED ON OUR PARADE……

RAIN

June 3rd and according to the Meteorological Office it is now Officially Summer……so after several weeks of blue skies and sunshine with record temperatures we awake to-day, a very special day, to rain.

Yes, its is Diamond Jubilee Day for Queen Elizabeth II and a Grand River Pageant is planned for the River Thames in central London as part of the festivities. Months of planning to get everything just right and the one factor we have no control over decides not to cooperate.

For hundreds of thousands of spectators it was a stoic day in a very wet London ……but by all accounts it didn’t dampen their spirits.

For us in the Midlands it was the T.V. that would be the best vantage point and certainly the driest……and what a great vantage point it was for a great Jubilee day.

Despite the rain that just seemed to get heavier and the wind chill along the river. On the open deck of the  Royal Barge the Queen was equally as stoic and stood waving thanks and encouragement to all.

    1. The Choir on the boat at the end with rain pouring down, hair plastered to their heads and still smiling and sing with gusto…..the Queen and family tapping along to the sea shanties are perhaps the memorable highlights of a great day

  2. Hi,
It is a shame about the weather, but from some of the things I am seen so far, everyone looked to be having a great time regardless. 😀

    1. Rain….who cares, it didn’t seem to dampen many spirits. But just imagine what it would have been like if the sun had shone – may be not as much ‘fun’
