It is always hard to define and then list your favourite locations and here in the U.K. we certainly have a wide variety of landscapes, seascapes and historical places to choose from. Some are placid, tranquil other much more dramatic……….![]()
and this has to be near the top of my list. The water is Loch Maree, the mountain is Slioch (3215ft) and the place is Wester Ross in the north west Highlands of Scotland. It is a wild mountainous region with Torridon Range to the south and the wilds of Assynt to the north. The weather can be ‘kind’ but it can also be wild but also subject to a quick change. I set up this shot 5 minutes earlier which shows a different mood to Slioch, you could define the cliffs leading upwards to the ridge and the Letterewe Forest at the foot. The light and cloud changed and for me this better describes the dark dramatic mood and majesty of Slioch far better…..Yes I wish I was there.
