I can spread my Wings!
Here in the U.K. Mute Swans are the resident Swans. But over the winter we play host to both Whooper and Bewick Swans who some how find our climate warmer for the winter months of the year.
The Swan above is a Whooper, like the Bewick it has a Yellow bill. This image was taken just before it left for its long migration journey to the tundra of the far north a journey that takes it over the North Sea to Finland, Russia or Greenland. Whooper and Bewick will breed there then hopefully return again next winter…..so you see for such a long journey he will need to spread his wings.
