Once seen on every High Street and in every village in the U.K. the Iconic Red Phone Box is now a rare sight. Yet there are still some of the old boxes about all serving a new purpose and enjoying a new life.
I have seen one box used as a Community Book Exchange Centre in one village, whilst another had become a very effective Greenhouse (even though it was still red!) complete with tomatoes and courgettes. Many are incorporated into a garden landscape design but most I am afraid seem to have a much more humble life after the phone. The majority have become ‘storage sheds’ crammed packed with assortments of just about anything! Well I suppose it is better than just ending up as scrape to be crushed never to be seen again.
This box is on the Isle of Skye at Portree along side the harbour….ideal for oars, crates and fishing tackle, resplendent with a new coat of paint….traditional RED of course

Love how ‘past’ items are resurrected with a new purpose! Cool!

I hope the doors open outward. Or does the top flip open so it can be filled with a big funnel?
