Symmetry…..I guess you could say that Symmetry is all around us.
Builders and Architects have used the design essentials of Symmetry in their buildings, that through there Symmetry make them pleasing to the eyes……. an attribute to good building that has lasted through the centuries….
Buildwas Abbey, Shropshire
Built in1135, on the banks of the River Severn in Shropshire, Buildwas Abbey was originally names St. Marys and St Chads. Sadly like so many Abbeys and Monasteries, Henry VIII decreed there destruction in the Dissolution of Monasteries Act.
What remains today is testament to sound construction probably helped by the symmetry in the design.
Symmetry is this Weeks Photo Challenge: https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_photo_challenge/symmetry/
That same Symmetry also captures detail in the Architecture to create purely decorative features..
The West Doorway of Litchfield Cathedral, Staffordshire
After all these years Symmetrical Design is definitely ‘Pleasing to the Eye’
