  1. A truly beautiful photograph, David. As you may know, I recently started taking photography more seriously. A friend of mine in the “business” explained to me the rule of thirds. A very good tip that I’ve been trying to follow.

    1. It is a theory established since man began creating images so it must be sound advice….but as I mentioned don’t be restricted by the ‘rule’ they are meant to be broken….treat it as a principle a guide. If it looks right to you then it is right.

  2. Thank you SO much for stating rules are meant to be broken! Rule of Thirds is a nice guide…guide being the operative word. If we want to bring creativity to our photos, we need to free ourselves of rules.

    1. We have too many rules in life let alone in art or photography…..whilst the ‘third rule’ is the most flexible it should be always treated…. as you correctly say as a guide. “Freedom” (-:
