Smell the Blossom…..

It is much more than Blossom that you can smell…..

It is the smell of Spring.  True we have Blossom now in abundance with its subtle fragrant aroma but we also have the much stronger musky smell of new leaf…in particular the Beech is now bursting.

Magnolia and Azalea are flowering,

Bluebells are starting to cover the woodland glades and today we even found our firsrt wild Forget-me-Nots in the undergrowth of the hedge….

  1. Nice shots David. I must be South of you as my bluebells are already fading and the forget-me-nots are not far behind 😦

    1. We are middle England…. Not sure we are going to get the full blue carpet of Bluebells this spring. The first to show are fading whilst many have yet to show any sign of flowers. Now the woodland canopy is quickly putting the floor into shade…
We will see what happens next 😊

        1. I hear from friends much further North that they appear further advanced than us….so I guess its just our quirky U.K. climate being quirkier than normal….it will all be back to normal after the ‘elections’ (-:

  2. The sweet scent of blossom and flowers is everywhere right now. I cycled about 10 kilometers this morning and about 5 kilometers between banks filled with flowering wild rapeseed and the first flowers of the cow parsley, mixed with ground Ivy and yes… more cylandine. Hope the English names are correct. Bright sunshine, blue skies with a wee bit of fluffy white clouds and a rising temperature from just 5º when I left to 17º when I came home. In between I did my shopping… So all this in just 2½ hours. 😛
