And Not too Long Ago….
A shared kitchen, in a dormitory at Southwell Workhouse (long after it ceased to be a Workhouse) converted as temporary accommodation for homeless young Mothers. Surprisingly it continued to be used as such until the 1990’s

The building does still exist and is now in the care of the National Trust. If you look at the following link you will see a post I made on the 16.10.2012 https://davidoakesimages.wordpress.com/2012/10/16/ Alterntaivly look on my archive link at the bottom of the page and go to 16.10.2012. The post on 15.10.2012 is also linked and worth a look. The Workhouse does feature in documentaries and films.

It could do with a a nice clean up. 🙂 There several very familiar items that were found in my mum’s kitchen as well. Not the British brand tins and boxes of course. The machine to make chips with, the strainer and the mince meat maker, the kitchen scale and the soap dish… I miss the famous red bos ox loose tea. Very strong tea. Forgot the name of the stuff.
