Summer will be back…Honest!

Well we do hope so…..

Castlerig

Hard to believe that the Summer Solstice is only 19 days away. Mid Summer and perhaps these ancient stones at Castlerigg may work their Druid magic and help us end this year with better weather than which it began.

  1. Have you ever tried to put your hands on such a stone and then be real quiet for a couple of minutes? You may feel inside you a bit of its history. When carved or worked by a stone mason you may even experience the ‘sound’ of the work on the stone. History, especially in England (and all of GB!!) is still just around the corner. I find it fascinating and magical at the same time. In my country it seems they tried their hardest to get rid of historical things, unless it attracts tourits, which mean money.
Summer, on the other hand, seems far away today, David. There is a gale expected with windforce 8 and gusts of 90 to 100 kilometers per hour. But, as you said, summer is also just around the corner. It will arrive on Wednesday and will give a scorching day on Friday. The also promis thunderstorms then. 😀 Isn’t Nature magnificent?

    1. I don’t have to touch the ‘stones’…..I find the ambivalence they create seeps in just by walking among them…a tingle down the spine (and that is not the dripping rain!).

  2. Let’s hope! Otherwise I’ve read in long forcasts (There are always someone trying 🙂 ) that there will be no real summer this year. Mostly overcast/rain through summer, but of course that’s here in Norway.
And there is some logic behind it, while everybody else are using up the sunshing, the rains must come down somewhere!

      1. If you’re hinting to a changing world (which may be correct) it’ll probably get even worse next year?
These global variationes seem to change at 45-70 years intervals? If so, where is the turn around point? Anyway, – there is absolutely nothing we may do to change anything at all!

          1. For example if we in Norway abolished all cars tomorrow (and re-entered the stone age) the impact on our global atmosphere would be something like 0,02% equaling about 40% of the impact from a new coal based energy plant.
By the way, did you know that both China and India are building such an energy plant just about every week through the year? Any more suggestions?

      1. Pretty short overhere. We are having our SUMMER today. Ending in thunderstorms and rain of course. Although I love the power of Nature, I would love a bit o’summer. Not too hot and not with lower temperatures under 18º. A soft breeze and some rain during the night… 😀 I know…. perfection doesn’t exist in Nature.
