A Green and Pleasant Land….

Yorkshire….

A large county of contrasts none more so than the landscape.  From Coastal Cliffs and sandy beaches to lofty Peaks, deep Dales and Wild Moorland.  Then there are to open Vales of pasture land and crops, cattle and farms very much like the Vale of Pickering that we look out onto each morning on our brief stay in Yorkshire.

But between the coastal belt to the east and moorland to the west there also exists another lush habitat of Limestone Valleys, well wooded slopes of native trees, each hiding the occasional stream and river, adjoined to a large manmade forest..the Dalby Forest of Conifers.

So yesterday we took time to explore and discover rich woods, lush meadows.  We also found time to pay our respects to the Adderstone, an erratic sandstone boulder hidden amongst the pine…..a pleasant spot to stop for refreshments.  Join us on this refreshing tour….
