Seabird Mecca…..

Flamborough Head and Cliffs…….

A home at this time of the year for thousand upon thousands of Seabirds, one of the most important breeding location in the British Isles. Fulmar, Kittiwakes, Gannets, Guillemots, Razor Bills and Puffins all jostle one another for nest spots and air space.  The cliffs are stacked from high tide mark to the very top with those that cliff nest whilst Puffins look for underground burrows on the soft tops.  You cannot miss Flamborough its Lighthouse is a landmark on the flat cliff tops…

Tomorrow we leave the Coast behind and head inland to the North Yorkshire Moors and Heartbeat Country…then back home, So tune in for the final ‘Trip’ instalment!

    1. Yep…very different….I will be refreshing my memories of Norway’s individual coastline later this year after a visit to Iceland. Just hope it will be as sunny …..as I think we have just had summer for this year

      1. Ah, yes, sometimes they are somewhat shorter than expected! But then the wintrer is kind of late in its arrival as well?
        I think we have to look to the magnetic North pole, which is on the move . . .?

    I love this East Riding a lot David. Been travelling around here with friends when they still drove a car and from there to the Yorkshire Wolds, on to the Moors (via Thornton le Dale and having tea there) and then eat in Goathland and go back to Hunmanby via Whitby, Scarborough, Filey.

    1. All this coastline is spectacular in different ways thanks to dramatic changes to the underlying geology and glacial movements back in the Ice age….just a little before my time. The coast changes appearance within a very short distance.
