Chives are a wonderful Herb to grow in the garden (or window box)….cut when ever to add to stews, salads or what ever takes your fancy…a nice sweet taste with a tang of onion.
But at this time of year it is also a beautiful flower to grace the garden. September into October and prior to the frosts this is its second flowering of the season.
So I guess Chives does give great value….edible and beautiful all at the same time.

The delicate flowers of the chives matches beautifully with the exuberantly onion flowers.http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_A_YdlYr3J64/TEL7LBEEOUI/AAAAAAAAASs/SeYv1Rdcpso/s1600/uienbol.jpg

I found onions, specially grown for the fabulous purple flowers to in to bouquets.
Of all of them, I prefer the small and delicate flowers of the chives…. 🙂
