Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire

At Tewkesbury the River Avon joins the River Seven.  But this stretch of water is a man made tributary of the Avon.  Used to divert waters to power several mills in the town…it is known this stretch of river is known as Mill Avon.  Here its short journey ends at these ornate water sluices, built to control the flow to the adjacent Mill and also down to continue its course to the Seven.

We may be inventive in our constructions, but not to sure we show the same importance of creating a legacy that is both attractive and practical.
