Invaders….again

Aquilegia….everywhere but where they should be….

Each Spring we have an invasion of Aquilegia.  It isn’t something we really complain about but these are all ‘self -seeded’ from the wind or from birds.  They pop up everywhere…..but not where perhaps they should. In the gravel, along the drive and in any crack they can find space to root.  They are always the purple/blue variety which I assume must be the colour of wild stock.

We do try to grow the cultivated Aquilegia in the variety of colours that our Garden Centre can provide, we have one season and they are gone.  So, as these rather beautiful Fairy like flower heads are so persistent, why should we do anything to discourage them.
