Those of you from Photographic, Mountaineering and Wild Life backgrounds will be familiar with the name JOHN BEATTY. Well I was treated to a great night out at the Derby Assembly rooms to listen to John present his WILD-VISION Presentation. Wild Vision is his new book.
John is currently ‘on tour’ of the U.K. and if you get the chance to catch a presentation it is well worth it. I have enjoyed many lectures/presentations over the years from explorers, mountaineers, conservationists and photographers, all have informed and inspired. John did exactly that with his presentation but it had that extra ingredient in that it was also refreshing….I came away feeling all the better from having shared the evening with him.
Some great stories and reflections from very early experiences as a climber linked thru to Iceland’s Volcanic start to this year. Add a final AV sequence featuring Jim Perrin’s words and the evening was complete. The images were great, many pre digital and Johns skill showed just what could be done with film without resorting to Photoshop and HDR imaging. But his presentation style and choice of music added that extra sparkle to the evening
