Yellow Daffodils are now everywhere but these are my first Wild Daffodils of the season, and on the first day of spring too. Here at Derwentside, a Derbyshire Wildlife Trust Reserve near Cromford they have started to appear. I am not to sure just how many more will flower this season as many just seem to have put up the green leaves with no sign of a flower bud. Still it is a very pleasing vision of daffodils below the trees. It is also pleasing to see that they are spreading further along this part of the valley so no doubt many more to come in the years ahead. Wild Garlic is also staring to shoot and will soon present its own white carpet for us to enjoy.
