Theatre Basin, Brecon…
Tranquil as it appears today this was once a busy transport hub. This is where the Monmouth and Brecon Canal, built 1797-1812, started its journey weaving it way south to the River Severn. Barges, narrowboats once filled this basin, there principle cargo was coal and iron ore. After a very busy early life, trade fell and the canal was abandoned in the 1960’s having served its industrial purpose.
But Canal enthusiasts wouldn’t let the canal remain lost and dormant. In the 1990’s redevelopment work began and new life was breathed back into this waterway that weaves its way through some of South Wales most beautiful countryside.
Today it is a place for recreation. Holiday Boats are available to cruise the canal and the towpath offering ideal walking and cycling trails. A little bit of our industrial heritage lost but now not forgotten and living a new life.

The Odd Box , is especially for Odds and Ends, it is the file where I drop those images, that I have not processed earlier in the year as part of a series or project or simply lacked time at that moment, where they can be safely stored. I can then go back to them at leisure, explore and see what surprises await
