Before the threatened rain I couldn’t miss taking another look at the Heather on Stanton Moor.
In the shade of a Silver Birch, the Bracken and Bilberry Bushes burst through the Purple Heather covering the Gritstone boulders. Whilst I can bring you a vision of this corner of the moor, I do regret that I cannot bring to you a true sense of the fragrance that engulfs you. It is a mix of sweet heather fragrance mixed with the warm musk smell of the bracken, a heady smell that lingers long after you have headed for home. It is a peaceful location except for the drone of bees that are all about…..I just hope some enterprising Bee Keeper has some Hives in the proximity as a true bounty of Heather Honey must be on offer– he will do well this season.
