A free Sunday, it is sunny and dry, there is a loud call from the garden to come and get on with the spring clean up. Yes, the birds are calling, the bird feeders as busy as they have ever been but the loudest all is the visual and colourful call of the Crocus. Just two weeks ago they were just green shoots pushing there way up through the snow, they now are standing tall reaching to catch all the sun’s warmth and saying very clearly Spring is here….Snowdrops earlier in the week may have been the first harbingers of the new season but these golden stamens glowing in the purple cups make an even stronger statement.
Elsewhere the Cyclamen that have graced the shade beneath the trees with delicate blooms have now turned there energy to producing new seed heads in the hope of spreading there joy even further next winter….
