Summer has set in with its usual severity. ~Samuel Taylor Coleridge. *
Red Stairway
Yesterday the sun shone and yes you would think that summer here in middle England had arrived in style. The geraniums shone, the red sandstone glowed and there was much anticipation in the air……to-day the outlook is very different. Grey wet and gales threatened.
But that I suppose is the beauty of Britain’s climate….just wait awhile and the climate will change.
* I think it was Coleridge who also stated “that in England summer starts on July 31st and last till the 1st of August”
A Sign of the Times
Whilst exploring the village above we spotted this sign
I suppose the phrase ‘as the Law Directs’ might well still apply….. even though the original dates from 1824. Beware!
7th June
This is great dear David, this phrase… I loved red stairs… The weather same as there, yesterday it rained and today it was cloudy… Strange days of the seasons… Thank you, have a nice and enjoyable day, Love, nia

It has been a very odd year, unpredictable and one extreme to another.

We are the same. Beds ready for planting but too wet and windy now to risk our treasures.

I love the stairway!! All those pots lined up so nicely….I like the “minimalist” aspect of it.

Hi,
Great photos, I love the flower pots on the stairs, they really do give the brickwork a bit of a lift and they also seem to change the aspect of the stairs as well.
That sign is ageless. 😀

I like those lovely old stone steps with splashes of red flowers!

There is nothing in particular that is special with these cottage steps….but with or without the flowers they do seem to have that magical aura that attracts the eye. Rain or sunshine I always get drawn to look.
