Halfway through August and summer will soon be over, though at times it has felt that summer passed us by this year. But much to my surprise our first Butterflies appeared on Thistles in the hedgerow……..
A Small Heath was the first and looking much the worse for ware with ragged wings.
The second was Green-veined White…they say that where there is one (or two) there are usually more, but search as we did we found nothing more just the two above.
At least we saw and photographed two, they may be the only ones we get this season. And apologies for the quality, I was out with the dogs, no tripod, no macro lens and a day when the wind was troublesome….so it was a quick click- click and hope for the best.
12th AUGUST
Those butterflies go through a lot as revealed by their tattered wings. Great photos!
