October is proving to be a sunny month (we just hope it continues) each morning s a bright new day emphasising the developing autumn colours….
The sun through the slowly changing Beech leaves adds that extra sparkle whilst one Horse Chestnut has abandoned its summer coat of green for its autumnal gold…….
Autumn fruits are sparse, Crab Apples, Rowan Berries very few, Elderberries none and Conkers very few. The one exception is the Sweet Chestnut which is laden with those spikey cases protecting there cache of nuts……
The Lake is just as colourful as the woods with shrubs now turned a bold yellow and gold contrasting with a lone Gull…..
and in the shade a Mallard sleeps enjoying the warmth of the day…..
Our daily walk takes by and across a Golf Course, great fun for many but I was once told the ‘Golf Spoils a Good Walk’ and I tend to agree. Whilst this gentleman was enjoying his game he certainly made a mornings walk unpleasant for others…..may be that is his disposition as he was playing on his own!
One bush reminds us that even though we have yet to enjoy autumn (and some say a late summer) that Christmas is not that far away. Yep, some Holly Bushes are starting to come into fruit. No doubt they will be sought after by birds all the more so this year as the other berries are so scarce.
Back home our Orchids are now in full flower….so yet another colourful reminder that me don’t have long till Farther Christmas arrives (just where did the year go to?)….
I especially love the mallard image..just so gorgeous color-wise and so peaceful looking!
