These may not be the most spectacular of floral arrangements but they do have the honour of being our fist Snowdrops of the New Year….and of course the first harbingers of the Spring to come. Just one small clump caught in the early morning glow of sunshine…..
There will be more Snowdrops to come…but that sunshine was not to last, the sky turned a cold milky white over the woods now bare and stark..….still not bad for the end of January.
We have had rain, snow, gales and even more rain so that is not a good omen for the new month ahead which countrymen call ‘February Fill Dyke’…….we will have to wait to see if their traditional prediction comes true.

Like I said: The spring is coming earlier and earlier for each year now.
Last year it came mid-February, and now it’s another couple of weeks early.
Enjoy it!

Seasons have changed but I will wait and see what nature has in store for February before shouting too loud that Spring is here! But whatever that may be I will enjoy it! …..and hope you do to. Best wishes

Well, the weather as well as the climate may change from year to year,- and not the least ‘from place to place’, but I have been observing the changes over a number of years.
The snow seems to come a little earlier every year now,- and so does the spring.
I shall not speculate if the ‘magnetic North pole has anything to do with it? It is definitely moving, but it’s a very very slow prosess. Then I’m Ia bit more inclined to look at the gulf stream which now meet tremendous amounts of melted freshwater out of Greenland. But again there will be decades before something really bad happens. And instead of a global warm-up we might experience the beginning of a new Ice age in our parts of the world. Anyway,- I won’t live to see it!

Hi David. I enjoy your photo’s very much. Thanks so much for the mighty old oak tree. It’s beautiful. The snowdrops are lovely, but I just heard of a new cold spell coming. I hope not though…. I really want some less gales and rain (and floods in Britain) and some more spring… 😉

The only sure forecast of the weather is what we have had…rather than what is (or might) be coming. I suppose it is the surprise that make it so ‘enjoyable’!!!!
