Another Winters Day….

The snow stopped about 4pm yesterday, but that North Easterly wind blowing straight from Scandinavia and even further north is keeping us firmly in the grip of winter.  For a fleeting moment this morning I thought that the sun may just break through the milky white cloud cover that has been overhead for days (and seems more like weeks).  Yes, a warm glow welcomed the morning…..

But little else had changed in the woods.  Leaves of the young Beech still survive the winter giving their own glow to a dark corner…..

Ivy shoots have pushed their way through the snow blanket that covers the roots……

It is ironic that this week, is the week, that British Summer Time officially starts – and we haven’t even had Spring.  The woods still very much a scene of winter…….

There is a saying, part of a Rhyme….

‘March comes in like a Lion and goes out like a Lamb’

Well this Lion is still roaring away!

    1. Yes I did….The Lambing Tent I saw them erecting last week is now over full I believe. They normally just keep them in for two days after they lamb then off out into the wilds but they have taken heart and keeping them in.

      1. Down here we are okay. South East is untouched at the moment. Not bad considering it’s Easter this weekend. Glad that they have kept them in though.

  1. Yeah, you folks have the Lion in Winter, don’t you? Well, you’re in good company. Things are pretty crazy here, too, and not just in my neck of the woods. Serious snow is still about and playing its tricks on many weary watchers.

    1. I rather think it is coming from your part of the world …..so please can you keep it top yourself. Yep the Scandinavian High Pressure is creating a bitterly cold North Easterly wind and today a chill factor of minus 10c.
