You could be excused for thinking that on Wednesday the 3rd of April that Spring had arrived. Well it certainly was sunny…but oh! so bitterly cold, air temperature 1c but a wind chill of I guess –6c.
Dawn produced a warm glow over the lake with a harsh web of shadows on the grass and just a touch early for anyone wanting to ‘rest awhile’ on the bench….
The sun is that bit higher in the sky and now rooting out hidden treasure in the woods….an old stone gate post, fallen and soon to be covered in undergrowth enjoys its moment in the spotlight….
Whist fallen bark starts to rot down and then to disappear amongst the leaves of last years Oak and Beech…..
A Great Crested Grebe has started to patrol his lake. So far no pairing has occurred. But his body language has changed over the past few days as he sails past in the dawn glow…. a little more plumper, his head bobbing and twisting left to right. Usually we get at least two pairs breeding here so lets hope that spring vibes are in the air once more…..

I heard the weatherforecast say something about a predited ‘high’ with temperatures possibly around +15C And that was in Norway! You ought to get at least another 2 or 3 degrees in your country? Time to smile, David!

David I have been moving home over the last 5 days – whilst we have had the most stunning blue sky and sunshine days – ironically i haven’t taken a shot just built flat pack furniture 😦

The JOYS of moving!!! Glad it is not me. Nor have I been out and about as I would have wished in such good weather (when will spring arrive) as my wife has been in hospital for a Hip op….so other tasks have taken priority. Soon back in the swing we hope.

I really like the warmth in that first image and would be tempted to spend some time on that bench, provided I’d be dressed for the chill and the wind–and of course, I would!

It did look warm (which it of course was far from) I always like that colour that early sun gives and that illusion of warmth. Half an hour later and the colour has subsided and reflects the cold. Best to keep moving!
