Today and tomorrow are the longest days of the year and tonight is the shortest night. I have always tried to post an image of Mid Summers Eve, so here is this years offering.
I have to add that it luck that has given me this shot, all day the clouds have been thick and threatening……then about 8pm the clouds slide apart for a brief glimpse of sunshine and a pale blue sky.
The location is the famous Cley on the Marsh Windmill on the North Norfolk Coast.
An hour later the much threatened rain arrived so no sunset again tonight.
Enjoy your Mid Summers Eve. It is all down hill to the end of the year from here….so you better start making your Christmas lists!

Thanks David. For Pagans it is a special day. The story to go with it is that Kind Oak lost his battle against King Holly. On YULE day, december 21, it’s the other way around. I had wished to go into the woods and celebrate it, but the weather took a bit of a change: 15º, stiff very fresh winds and lots of rain. The ground in the woods is rather muddy and slippery. Not a good thing for me with my hip- and knee trouble. I will do it now at home. Either today, or tomorrow and will take you and Tony in my blesseings to the Goddess and the God. After all, being a Pagan – a hexa – is different, but we are normal human beings too.
Oh…hexa means ‘wise woman’… If that’s tru, I don’t really know but sometimes it is. And it’s a better word than the negative laden word witch. We live with Nature.
Litha is the name for Mid Summer as is Yule for Mid Winter. More and more we see these days being celebrated. To live with the seasons is wonderful. Waiting for fresh strawberries makes them taste so much better than when you can buy them all year around. I will go for cherries today… Have a great weekend in Norfolk! Lydia

Hexa….that is a new one for me. I don’t have a problem with witches, though as far as I am aware I only know white witches. I hope you enjoy your mid summer. Best wishes

We ain’t so bad… 🙂 Thank you for your kind wishes – The celebration was joyful as should be. With music and wine and good food. Inside but we surrounded ourselves with plants, herbs and flowers and the scent was wonderful.
Norfolk looks a bit like The Netherlands but preservation of nature reserves is much better in England right now. It’s beautiful. Thanks for your grest photos.
