Wishful thinking….. in the Face of the Storm

Burnham-Norfolk-5_983-ttOn the Norfolk Coast

The weather forecasters have predicted more sever storms, not good news for the many who are still trying to recover from the storm ravages of 2 weeks ago.

Then of course they cheer us up, stating that in the years to come we can expect both and increase in the number of storms as well as there severity.

So with those thoughts in mind I felt it time to reflect on brighter days.

Whatever your weather, take care and….

Septembers Charm……

Cley next the Sea

A memory of a fantastic end to a September day.  Evening light over Cley Marshes, Norfolk.

The reeds had yet to adopted their autumnal colours….but in late September they had made a start.

Wherever you are this Friday and whatever you have planned for the weekend…

A Very Grand Entrance……

A Very Grand Entrance…..

The Marble Hall is the grand entrance to Holkham Hall in Norfolk.  A domed roof , a flowing staircase and a row of majestic columns, the later being of pink Derbyshire Alabaster with matching panelling.

The grand piano is dwarfed by these magnificent surroundings, but perhaps gives you a clue to the size of this entrance to Holkham Hall

It is some years since I was invited to photograph the Hall, a day when no visitors were permitted, so it was both a privilege and a thrill to have free access to all areas.

Holkham Hall has welcomed visitors for many years.  In more recent times those visitor numbers have been swelled by Wedding Parties.  I was thrilled to walk through the Marble Hall, up the stairs and through the doors at the top into yet another grand room…  so imagine the even bigger thrill for a Bride, in a flowing White Gown, her procession up those stairs, with Bridesmaids and entourage following in her wake.  It would certainly make a special day even more special.

No matter how grand or humble your surrounds are today, and as always….

As night falls…. a change

Late Evening, the Quay, Blakeney, Norfolk

It had been stormy, but they do say, that as the tide changes the weather can and often does change. This particular evening the tide began to recede and indeed a calm came to the evening…. even the sun tried to make a late appearance through the slowly thinning cloud.  All became strangely still.

All may be calm but….
