The forecast for the next few days is not too good (but the forecasters may be wrong) so to be on the safe side we thought we would indulge ourselves with a sunny summer walk on the Moors….
The location was once again Stanton Moor a magical location for a walk….and in August it is even better as the moor is covered with purple Heather…
Wondering across the ancient moorland tracks you both smell the pungent fragrance of the Heather but listen to the constant drone of Bees gathering the pollen for ‘Heather Honey’…the scent and sound is both heady and mesmerising….
Stanton Moor is very much a part of Derbyshire in the heart of England yet in parts it is reminiscent of parts of Scotland, not as dramatic as say the Rothiemurchus but not a visual million miles away…..
All is calm to-day and very much a far cry from the wilder months of winter. This small Oak is testimony to the power of the winter winds and perhaps it is also a testimony to its own strength……
The weather may well be on the change, but the concentrated glare of the sun had us heading down to the River to find a cool spot for our refreshments…..
Quite a contrast to the open moors but just as stimulating and oh so peaceful…..
A great end to a perfect days walk.

I can see the resemblance to Scotland there!

I so enjoyed the walk with you to see the moors; getting the visual is heady stuff for me who has only read about moors in novels.
Lovely photos.
