A very bright start to the day, but the woodlands were spectacularly and mysteriously dark….
A very marked contrast to the blue skies across the fields. It started out as gin clear blue sky but the seasonal change left an overnight chill ideal for creating early morning vapour trails….
The damp spring and warm summer have been ideal growing conditions this year for both ferns and bracken, this dead tree stump now playing host to a new ‘fernery’……
But it is the Silver Birch woods that really provide a home for the bracken, still bright green with only the odd frons starting to fade and hint at the autumn colours to come….
Just another lovely late summers day…….
