It never ever ceases to amaze me just how quickly Fungi can and do grow. One day nothing…next, in this instance, a chunky Fungi stands proud as if it has been there for months. It is also the first of the autumn that is yet to come and I suspect as we had a moist spring, a warm summer and a humid late summer that it will be a bumper Fungi year….

Fungi are among the best of all opportunists, and provide a fascinating field of study. I too have observed a fungus to sprout literally overnight and be there the next day as if it were long-established. Yours are quite worthy of note, and the color of that deteriorating stump adds yet another level of interest.
